Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the difference between 3D and 4D ultrasounds?
A 3d ultrasound is a 3-dimensional static view of your baby, and 4D incorporates the dimension of time, helping you to see the motions of your baby in real-time in the womb. The most amazing part of the experience is watching your baby moving inside the womb as you go home with photos of your baby (3D). Look at them laughing, yawning, and playing with their toes. We spend the remainder of your session in 4D mode, ensuring that no precious gestures are missed. With the exception of gender determination, all of our sessions are completed in 4D format. For greater precision, our gender determination is performed mainly in 2D.
How long does the 4D Ultrasound take?
The 4D Ultrasound procedure will take between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the session you want so intend on spending 30 minutes to an hour at our clinic to allow time for you to finish forms and for us to finalize your DVD and print your images.
How far along should I be before I have a 4D Ultrasound?
If you are planning to do just one 4D Ultrasound test, we will recommend that the exam be carried out between the 26th and 32nd week of pregnancy. Even so, after about 22 weeks of pregnancy, excellent photographs of your baby can be acquired at any moment. We are planning sessions before the end of the 36th week.
Does the location of my placenta impact the quality of my images?
Not usually, however. Some anterior placenta (front) clients also wonder whether a 3d/4d ultrasound would make it harder to see their infant. A good number of our customers have an anterior placenta and we can scan to see the baby from the side and around the placenta. In certain instances, whether it is anterior, posterior (along the back), or fundal (along the top), the baby will face into the placenta, in which case we will strive to try to persuade the baby to turn away from the placenta. Some of the photos are going to have placenta sections in them, after all, we're picturing the infant in the womb. We would do our utmost to expose as much of the face as possible, but there is not always a full face shot accessible.
Can I always have a wonderful photo of my baby?
Usually, but not always. Often it can be hard to see the baby's face if the baby is gazing face down persistently, i.e. towards the spine. The accuracy of the photographs can be compromised by other considerations, such as the baby facing the placenta or the absence of amniotic fluid in front of the baby's face.
Next, our sonographer will aim to reposition the mom to see if better positioning can be achieved. If we are unable to capture photographs during the session, as considered necessary by the sonographer, we will arrange a repeat scan for a weekday, giving the baby time to turn to a suitable location.
Can I bring my family and friends?
Yes. In fact, our clients are encouraged to invite friends and family to accompany the ultrasound session. This is a joyful and beautiful moment, one that can be enjoyed with your loved ones and your family. Apart from the mother, we can easily fit up to 5 to 8 individuals. You may have more than 5 visitors, but this gives you a general understanding of the number of seats in the room. To accommodate everyone, we can work. Our seating is clearly arranged so that everyone in your group can have an amazing view of the baby's 4D pictures on our big screen. At our service, babies and children are also always welcome.
Are you able to tell the gender of my baby?
Yes, we will have a hint of the baby's gender in certain circumstances. However, we will not promise that during the session, the baby will help. The potential of determining gender is all influenced by such variables as body tissue quality, stage of development, and fetus position. We will reschedule a quick peek return visit one week later at no extra expense if we are unable to decide the baby's gender. Before we can achieve an optimal view, we will continue to give this return visit.
